This week's learning

Our spelling words this week all had the short a sound.
So we made some "Black Cat Hats" and wrote our words on them.

In math, we've been working on greater than and less than.
We made these alligators to help us practice.
The alligator always wants to eat the bigger, or greater, number.
The alligator has the words "is greater than" and "is less than" on his belly.  This helps us to get the wording right.
Check out this video.  We LOVE this song!

In Science, we've been learning all about weather.
One of our discussions was on wind.  Wind is helpful for cooling us off and making energy, but sometimes it can be harmful as well.
We made windsocks so that we'd be able to tell which was the wind was blowing, and how hard.

We also talked about Christopher Columbus all week.
We don't have to come to school on Monday, thanks to him! :)
On Friday, we made Christopher Columbus' face with a paper plate.
Back in 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue!
