Weather Watchers

We've been studying weather the past couple weeks and we have learned a lot!

Here we are recording the weather for the day.

We used cotton balls to make the different kinds of clouds.  We also made a Cloud Snack.
We used a pineapple for the sun and then used cool whip to make a cloud on top.

We did an experiment to see what would happen if we put a lid full of ice over some really hot water.  It made a cloud!

We made bracelets and hats to help us remember the water cycle.
Yellow beads for the sun, clear for evaporation, clear blue for clouds, light blue for rain, white for snow, green for plants, black for mud, and dark blue for oceans.

Our hats have our important words on them...sun's heat, evaporation, condensation, and precipitation.

Rock Study

In September, we did a lot of work with rocks and soil.

Here we are studying what happens when you drop rocks in water.

We used hand lenses to help us get a better look.

We made some yummy treats too!
We crushed Oreos for the soil, then we mixed chocolate pudding and whip cream for the mud.   We added more soil (Oreos) on top, then put some mini chocolate and caramel kisses to make rocks.  Brown sugar on top for the sand, and don't forget the gummy worm!

The last thing we did was go hunting for pet rocks.

We gave them faces and names.

We even made them some homes.

How cute am I?

Problem Solvers!

Ms. Villegas had a problem.  Her cat, Callie, needed a new home.  It had to be at least 10x10 and 5 stories tall.

Here we are, trying to build her a new home!

Using Our Senses!

We learned all about using our senses to describe things.

Liam, Vicente, and Ashley are using their sense of touch.

Amy and Catherine are using their sense of taste.

Nyssa and Kaitlynn are using hand lenses for their sense of sight.

Ethan, Katelin and Javon are using their sense of sound to listen to some music.

Ask us about our senses!

Eating Patterns!

One of the first things we learned about this year was patterns.  We worked on repeating and extending patterns for days and it was time for a reward!

We used bananas, grapes, melon, and cantaloupe to make "Pattern Fruit Kabobs!"
